cute enough?

I have to offer credit where credit is due. I was planning to do a comic strip on this theme, but it was partly because of the work of and that I thought of using my own avatar, Lilith. (Lilith is pre-existing, you can see her in my devID, but I haven't done self-insertion humor in years.)

This takes a little explanation. I had the idea back when I first posted my "sprawled" piece, and some people commented on the KP/ forum that it wasn't as shippy as they'd like. I completely understood where they were coming from, but it also got me thinking a little bit about the fandom in general.

Kim/Shego fans, and particularly fanartists, tend to lean towards portraying the pairing as hyper-romantic, even cutesy. There are all these adorable cuddly pictures of the pairing floating around dA. My own art, however, tends to portray them as very aggressive, very rough-and-tumble. It's not very tender or loving, I guess. That's because my favorite part of watching Kim Possible is watching Kim and Shego banter. They seem to enjoy fighting each other so much, which I think is how they express a mutual respect and even a liking . . . but because of this, my favorite way of portraying them in *love* is by showing them tussling.

Which isn't to say that I don't like the cute art! I'm just a different sort of fanartist, is all.
